A redesign of a front step for a customer as the old one was unsafe and literally crumbling away.
The redesign and build of a new front step prioritising safety and aesthetics, addressing the issues presented by the old step/entrance.
We created a 3D design/layout to exact measurements first to show the customer our ideas and various options were presented to the customer for discussion.
The new design included non-slip natural stone surfaces, treated timber with additional coats of chosen stain and treated handrail with stainless steel supports.
We also incorporated integrated LED lighting to both sides of the step and illumination of the driveway for easier parking. These were seamlessly integrated into the existing PIR light with concealed cabling and a hidden weatherproof junction box for cable access. We even designed and 3D printed adjustment spacers to adjust the angle of light from the step downlight to illuminate the step more evenly.
The side supporting wall was clad with matching stained timber and offcuts of slabs used as shelf toppers to tie the design in.
The result is a welcoming, good looking, and above all safe, entrance that complements the home's character while providing peace of mind.
